What It Means in Practice / Use Cases

Here’s what you can expect if you use these speakers in a car audio system:

Strengths

• With 70 W RMS and 92 dB sensitivity, these speakers will play reasonably loud with good clarity from a moderate head unit or small amplifier. You’ll get better output than many stock oval speakers.

• The frequency response (down to ~50 Hz) gives them decent low-bass extension for ovals; though not as deep as a full subwoofer, they’ll fill in a lot of bass for many music genres.

• The 3-way design helps to separate mid/low, mid, and high frequencies better than simple 2-way coaxials; the supertweeter adds sparkle in highs (cymbals, extreme treble) that some ordinary speakers lack.

• Durable build: the materials (polypropylene cone, etc.) and testing ensure that they are likely to last well under road-vibration, heat, etc.

Limitations / What to Be Careful Of

• The lower cutoff (~50 Hz) means you won’t get rock-bottom bass (subwoofer-level) especially if the car is large or you like very deep bass (e.g. EDM, dubstep etc.). A subwoofer will still help if you want real sub bass.
