What That Means in Practice

  • With 250 W RMS, this subwoofer is mid-powered; it can produce strong bass without needing a huge amplifier, but to get the best performance you’ll want an amp that can deliver that RMS well (not just peak).

  • The 1,800 W peak number is more for short bursts; in sustained usage you’ll be limited by the RMS rating, thermal handling, excursion limits, etc.

  • The low end of ~35 Hz is decent; the sub can reproduce fairly deep bass. However, real-world output at those frequencies depends heavily on the enclosure, power supply, and how well the sub is mounted.

  • The shallow-mount aspect is useful when there is limited depth available (trunk, underfloor, etc.). If installed in a deep enclosure, you may get little more output or headroom, but it’s especially helpful for tight spaces.

  • Sensitivity of ~89-90 dB is good but not “high”; it means you’ll need decent power to push it loud without distortion. Weak head units may not be enough.

What to Check / Limitations

  • Ensure the amplifier you pair with it can really supply ~250 W RMS into 4 Ω continuously, with good power rails and cooling. Undersized amps will distort or limit performance.

  • The enclosure matters a lot: sealed vs ported will change character — sealed will give tighter, punchier bass; ported will give more output in the mid-bass / lower frequencies but require more space and careful port tuning.

  • Mounting depth may be shallow, but check the exact depth clearance in your car. Even shallow subs need enough “wiggle room” for cone/surround excursion.

  • With high peak power, mechanical stress / cone/surround durability may be a factor if you drive it hard often. Also thermal limits could be reached if ventilation is poor.

  • Often packaging / marketing exaggerate “peak” or “max” numbers more than RMS. Real output will be closer to what the amp and enclosure allow than what the “peak” spec suggests.
