Because this is a powered unit, you don’t need a separate external amplifier. The built-in amp runs the woofer. Crutchfield+1

For good performance, the power wiring should be capable — many installers recommend using a 10-gauge power cable to supply it. Crutchfield+1

What to Expect / Limitations

Because of its small woofer and compact enclosure, the bass will not hit as deep or be as loud as a full-size subwoofer in a large enclosure. This is more for subtle strong bass or “feel the low end” rather than earth-shaking boom.

At high volume / low frequencies (near the lower end of its response, ~30 Hz), distortion may increase unless gain / power is managed properly.

If the car has a lot of road noise or weak door panels, some of the low end might be less noticeable.
